Nattokinase is an enzyme that breaks down fibrin. It is derived from natto, a Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans. Nattokinase has strong antithrombotic properties – it destroys fibrin networks that form blood clots. The body has a natural system for destroying blood clots, based on the activity of fibrolysin, so taking nattokinase can be considered as an additional support for this process, especially since its activity is much higher than that of natural plasmin.
