The active ingredient in Belohair is minoxidil. It belongs to a group of medicines called dermatologicals (skin products).
Belohair is intended for the treatment of hormonal hair loss (alopecia) in men and women aged 18 to 65 years.
Hormonal alopecia (male pattern baldness) is a type of hair loss that can affect both men and women. In men, alopecia begins with remission of the hairline on the forehead and hair loss on the scalp, with the affected areas gradually increasing in size. During this process, a horseshoe-shaped band of hair is formed along the edges of the hairline, at the back of the head, and on the sides of the head. The female type of alopecia begins with diffuse hair loss, the hair becomes thinner, shorter and grey, and the skin between the hair begins to glow. However, in women, the hairline on the forehead almost never fades.
