This medicine is indicated for the antisepsis of small superficial wounds. This is a solution for local use.
The skin is the body’s first defense against external aggressions. It protects against environmental pollution and sun, and also acts as a barrier against germs and other pathogens. An open wound from a cut or scrape represents a break in the protective armor, allowing pathogens to enter the body. If it is an open skin wound, it should be disinfected before applying a bandage or compress. This prevents germs and other bacteria from entering the body through an open wound. By refusing to disinfect a wound, you expose yourself to a certain risk of infection: pathogenic microbes can spread throughout the body through the bloodstream.
If it is a small cut or scrape, in the vast majority of cases the wound will bleed. Wanting to stop the bleeding as quickly as possible is a very human reaction. However, allow the blood to flow for a short time: this will allow the bleeding to allow pathogens trapped in the wound to escape, resulting in the first natural disinfection of the skin. To clean the wound, wash the affected part of your body with running water. If this is not possible, blot the area with a clean cloth and warm water. Carefully check whether any foreign bodies remain in the wound. Small gravel and shards of glass or wood can be carefully removed with tweezers.
If the damaged area is well cleaned and is no longer bleeding, the wound must be disinfected. To do this, use an antiseptic spray containing, for example, the active ingredient chlorhexidine, which is very successful against many bacteria. Finally, protect the wound with a bandage to prevent pathogens from entering from the outside. For large abrasions and cuts, use a sterile pad secured with a strip of gauze.
