Solpadein is a medicine with analgesic and antipyretic effect in the form of effervescent tablets. It owes its action to the composition of paracetamol, codeine and caffeine. Paracetamol is an active metabolite of phenacetin, exhibiting analgesic and antipyretic effects. Its action is associated with the inhibition of prostaglandins in the central nervous system by blocking arachidonic acid cyclooxygenase. Paracetamol does not damage the gastric mucosa and does not inhibit platelet aggregation and blood clotting. Codeine is an organic chemical compound related to opioid substances. It affects the functioning of the central nervous system. Acting like morphine, but more weakly and less toxic, it eliminates the feeling of pain. Codeine is rapidly absorbed and enters the bloodstream after about an hour. It works from 2 to 6 hours.
