Faktu is produced in the form of ointment or suppositories. It helps stop bleeding, relieves itching and burning. Furthermore, this product should prevent inflammation and promote regeneration. Faktu is used to treat internal hemorrhoids, especially those affected by inflammation or bleeding. The main medicinal substance polycresulen is a high-molecular acid capable of precipitating proteins. Policresulen precipitates and expels dead tissue, but does not affect healthy tissue around the wound. Furthermore, as a substance that locally supports the stoppage of bleeding, it precipitates blood proteins and causes contraction of tiny blood capillaries. Thanks to this, the bleeding stops very quickly, but at the same time it causes reactive congestion, which supports the healing processes in the affected area and its re-covering by the mucous membrane. In addition, with its antibacterial effects, it protects against the secondary colonization of the wound by bacteria. The astringent effect of polycresulen, i.e. the effect of tissue tightening and drying, suppresses wetting. Cinchocaine, on the other hand, reversibly and locally suppresses the excitability and conductivity of the nerves for pain perception, thereby counteracting pain and itching. There are no studies available to monitor the risk of use in pregnant women. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the product should only be administered if necessary and in consideration of possible risks for both mother and child.
