Nicorette Freshmint Oral Spray is an over-the-counter medication designed to help you quit smoking and belongs to a group of medications called nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).
Nicorette Freshmint Oral Spray relieves nicotine withdrawal symptoms, including nicotine cravings, symptoms that occur when you quit smoking. By using Nicoret Freshmint oral spray, you can prevent or reduce these discomforts and the urge to smoke. This is because you continue to introduce small amounts of nicotine into the body over a short period of time.
Nicorette Freshmint spray for the oral mucosa does not contain tar, carbon monoxide and other toxins from cigarette smoke.
To improve your chances of quitting smoking, you can also seek support and advice.
Dosage and method of administration
Recommended dosage:
Weeks 1–6: Take 1 or 2 puffs when you normally smoke cigarettes or when you have the urge to smoke. Take one puff first, and if your urge to smoke does not go away within a few minutes, take a second puff. If 2 injections are required, subsequent doses may be given as 2 consecutive injections. For most smokers, this means 1-2 puffs every 30 minutes to 1 hour.
For example, if you smoke an average of 15 cigarettes per day, you should take 1 or 2 puffs at least 15 times throughout the day.
Do not use more than 2 sprays at a time or 4 sprays per hour for 16 hours. The maximum dose is 64 injections over 16 hours in any 24-hour period.
Weeks 7–9: You begin to reduce the number of injections per day.
By the end of Week 9, you should be using HALF the average number of injections per day you did in Step 1.
Weeks 10-12: Continue to reduce the number of sprays per day so that by week 12 you are no longer using more than 4 sprays per day. When you reduce the number of sprays to 2-4 per day, you should stop using Nicoret Freshmint Lip. Spray the mucous membrane.
After stopping treatment, you may be tempted to smoke again. Save the remaining doses of the spray, as the urge to smoke may occur suddenly. If you feel the urge to smoke, take one or two puffs if one puff does not help within a few minutes.
Typically, you should take Nicoret Freshmint Oral Spray for 3 months, but no longer than 6 months.
Consult your doctor if you need to use Nicoret Freshmint Oral Spray for more than 6 months.
