Solpadeine Max is a medicine in the form of effervescent tablets with analgesic effect, which contains 3 active substances. Paracetamol and codeine are responsible for the analgesic effect, while caffeine enhances the analgesic effect of paracetamol. The drug is used to relieve pain that requires a stronger action than single-component analgesics available over the counter, such as: migraine, sciatica, sprains. Solpadeine Max can be administered short-term to children over 12 years of age and adults.

Composition
The active substances of the drug are: paracetamol (Paracetamolum), codeine phosphate hemihydrate (Codeini phosphas hemihydricus) and caffeine (Coffeinum).

1 effervescent tablet contains: 500 mg of paracetamol, 30 mg of caffeine and 12.8 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate.

Excipients: sorbitol (E420), sodium saccharin, sodium bicarbonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, anhydrous citric acid, anhydrous sodium carbonate, povidone K-25 and dimethicone 350.

Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Solpadeine Max is administered orally, after dissolving the appropriate amount of effervescent tablets in at least half a glass of water (200 ml).
While taking the drug, do not consume too much caffeine, which is found in drinks such as coffee or tea.
Without consulting a doctor, do not use Solpadeine Max for longer than 3 days.
Age Dosage Maximum daily dose
Adolescents aged 12 to 15 years 1 effervescent tablet, if necessary the dose may be repeated in at least 6 hours 4 effervescent tablets (i.e. 2 g of paracetamol and 51.2 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate and 120 mg of caffeine)
Adolescents aged 16 to 18 years 1 or 2 effervescent tablets, if necessary the dose may be repeated in at least 6 hours 8 effervescent tablets (i.e. 4 g of paracetamol and 102.4 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate and 240 mg of codeine)
Adults 1 or 2 effervescent tablets, the dose may be repeated every 4-6 hours, but not more often than every 4 hours 8 effervescent tablets (i.e. 4 g of paracetamol and 102.4 mg of codeine phosphate hemihydrate and 240 mg of codeine)
Your doctor may recommend a different dosage, especially if:

elderly people, adults and teenagers weighing less than 50 kg,
patients with mild to moderate kidney and liver disease,
people suffering from Gilbert’s syndrome (familial non-hemolytic jaundice),
people with chronic alcoholism, malnutrition or dehydration.
Action
Solpadeine Max has an analgesic effect, containing 3 active substances:

paracetamol – in addition to its analgesic effect, it also has an antipyretic effect,
codeine – belongs to opioid painkillers,
caffeine – increases the effect of paracetamol.
Indications
Solpadeine Max is used for:

headaches, migraines with or without aura,
toothache (also after tooth extraction),
painful periods,
neuralgia,
pain associated with strain injuries and sprains,
back pain, bone and joint pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism,
sciatica.
Contraindications
When not to use Solpadeine Max:

if you have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, codeine, caffeine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
in people who take other medicines containing paracetamol and codeine,
in breastfeeding women,
with breathing difficulties,
with chronic constipation,
in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age during pain after removal of palatine or adenoids,
if you know that you metabolize codeine to morphine very rapidly.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The use of the medicine should be discontinued if the following symptoms occur:

slow or shallow breathing, confusion, drowsiness, small pupils, nausea or vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite,
feeling of dry mouth, nausea and vomiting in case of recent gallbladder removal surgery,
acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), which may result in severe stomach pain
allergic reactions which may be severe and may include skin rash or mouth sores, sometimes with flu-like symptoms or itching, sometimes with swelling of the mouth or face or shortness of breath, peeling of the skin,
breathing problems. These symptoms are more likely to occur if you have previously taken other painkillers such as ibuprofen and acetylsalicylic acid.
unexplained bruising or bleeding,
sudden weight loss, yellowing of the eyes and skin,
difficulty urinating,
cloudy urine.
